Advent, the first Monday

Gen. 3:15
_And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel._

The speaker here is God, and the audience is a snake. And it’s bad news for the snake. For his part in the temptation, some descendent of Eve will crush his head.

And this is the story that begins to unfold at Christmas. Since the first man and woman fell, there has been a battle between good and evil, between darkness and light. And the light is beginning to shine.

Pain is part of the story. The ancient serpent will yet strike the Savior’s heel. But the outcome is pretty clear. Deliverance will come.
