Advent, the third Friday

Luke 2:9-11
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Angels had not been around for a good long while, and then in the course of a year or so they are all over the place, showing up in the temple and in people’s houses and even out in the fields.

The birth of Christ was accompanied by a flurry of angels, appearing and announcing. And well it should have been. After centuries of silence, suddenly the sky is full of angels.

They had been waiting too, and they had a lot to say: There is great joy, and it’s for everybody. The baby is Savior and Christ and Lord.

Now that’s good news.
