Advent, the second Thursday

Matthew 1:20, 24.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit”. When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

The Bible tells us that Joseph was a good man, but he was in sort of a fix. His fiance was going to have a baby, and they weren’t even married. Worst yet, it wasn’t even his baby.

But when an angel told him that it was God’s baby he did what he had to do. Instead of turning Mary out, he took her in. He gave her a home and a name.

He wasn’t afraid, and he wasn’t ashamed.

Pray today that you can be like Joseph.
