Advent, the first Friday

Daniel 7:13-14
In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

For the prophets, the idea of God becoming a man was hard to fathom, but it was not hard to imagine.

He would have and deserve authority, glory, power and praise. And dominion. Dominion is the independent right of possession, use, and control. He is absolute and uncontested Lord. We are his property.

It’s a great word. Say it out loud several times. Dominion. Dominion. Dominion. An everlasting dominion.

He came as a baby. The Son of God would come as the Son of Man, a small baby. It was a mystery no one fully understood then. Or now.

But one thing is clear. He has dominion.
